I Almost Forgot...

We had quite a week of fun visitors before went to Las Vegas. Alan Finkle and his wife stopped to see us on their return trip from their winter digs in Palm Springs to their home in Spearfish, South Dakota. The four of us met at Magleby's Fresh for a very lovely luncheon where Alan filled us in on the latest "Hair" news. He and his wife, Kathy, are among the financial backers of the Broadway revival. The show had been nominated for a Tony several important categories including: best revival of a musical (which they won) best actor and best supporting actor - which unfortunately the Tony was given to others in the same category. We were especially excited that Will Swenson had been nominated in the best supporting actor in a musical category as we know him well and have even had the opportunity to perform with him here in Provo. Alan was barely going to arrive in Spearfish before heading to New York to join in on the Tony Festivities. Pretty nifty, I must say.

Then, out of the blue, Dawna Oak called and said she was in Utah and wanted to stop in to say hello. She is currently the head costumer for Ringling Brothers Circus and Disney on Ice among other things - and lives in Florida. An absolute delight to have her visit with us.

And as if that wasn't enough - a few days later Mark Kalin and his wife Jinger and daughter Parker stayed over night with us, interrupting their travels to Atlantic City where they will be performing for the summer. (Look up Mark and Jinger Kalin on the internet and you get quite a bevy of pictures - mighty fun). I still can't believe the young man that used to come to our house as a teenager to do his magich for our children has grown up to be so magnificent at his craft. He used to make tigers and leopards disappear on stage - his latest feat was a jumbo jet!
Absolutely amazing. We had a wonderful time and were sad they had to leave so soon.

It was so fun to visit with these accomplished and "famous" folks who had once been Mr. Baird's drama kids at Charter Oak and Royal Oak High Schools. Quite flattering that they have such glowing things to say about a man they pay much tribute to - that being dear Dad, lil' old HK Baird. Very impressive indeed.
